What will you need to train your dog? (1) The first thing you will require is a shipping crate, it must be of adequate size in order that your pug doesn’t feel any type of difficulty to stand up and turn around. (2) To choose an appropriate “Potty area” for your dog is important. (3) A "Potty Word or Sign";. (4) Your puppy's favorite cookies. I find small slices of hot dog (the sausage) work great and your dog will love them!. (5) To get rid of any accident areas you must purchase a cleaner which is non ammonia based. It would be best if you buy the one made specially for pets. “No Go” is one such example that you can buy from pet departmental stores. (6) Keep a pugs chart to know daily needs of your dog. (7) Time and patience is the most important thing you will require besides all the above mentioned points. The type of crate and its significance which you will require is stated below :- If you can obtain the molded, fiberglass type of crate used when shipping by air that is the best type. This will become your dog's "den" and - believe it or not - he will grow to adore it. Your dog will stay in his crate every time when you are not paying him your complete attention. When you purchase a crate for your pug dog it should be of a standard size as a very large crate can affect your purpose of housetraining. For most young pug puppies, you will need a crate divider. These are very helpful because you can purchase a crate which will fit your adult dog and utilize it while he is still a puppy. You should have an appropriate schedule for your dog because it helps to meet your dog’s needs. The schedule should be designed by noticing daily the routines of your puppy. It is important to carry your pugs every time at the same place for potty whichever you have decided if the crate door is opened. After potty you must give your dog his preferred snack for example the hot dog or cookies. It is essential to accompany your dog when you take your dog outside for potty. From starting it is significant to teach your dog his “potty time” so that he can realize his ideal timing for potty nothing else. As soon as the pup starts relieving, select a word for potty. Familiarize him with that word so that whenever you say that word, he should go out instantly. Whenever you think that the pup is learning it, express the word pleasantly and praise him for the successful completion of the task. Its best to admire your pug puppy after he finishes potty and then take him inside and give food and play with him. The most important thing you should always keep in mind is to take your dog outside after food because dog has the propensity to poop out every 20 minutes after food and then take him back in the crate. This method must be continued till evening. I personally don't give food and water after 10:00 p.m. to my dog. This seems to help the puppy stay clean all through the night. At bedtime, move the crate to your bedside. Make sure your dog is in a draft-free area and has plenty of warm bedding. Otherwise, it can make your pup wet the bed also. Keep his crate near your bed as he will feel comfortable. Most of the times, they prefer to go out immediately after they wake up. Take him to the same potty area to familiarize him and give rewards as taught in the training methods. |
